Writing a Series
European Tycoons is complete
Two weeks ago, I released the fourth and last book in my escapist millionaire series. I’m calling it the last, but who knows? This type of series is well designed for many more books – the ideas are endless, both on setting and concept. Just for fun – here’s a few:
The English Tea Maker
The German Chef
The Scottish Kilt Maker
The Czech Brewer
The Greek Fisherman
The Dutch Painter
The Monaco Driver
Big shout out to reader PeggyAnne who wrote to me and suggested these titles and said she’s sad the series is over and I need to keep writing them! As I said, never say never…
However, for now, the series is complete and I’m delighted. I’m pleased all stories are released out into the world and make a beautiful 4-book set. They’d make a perfect present for a romance-loving friend, just saying…
I’m also delighted because it’s been such a long time coming. I have written about this before but I wrote 3 of the 4 novels during COVID and the fourth not long thereafter. I decided to write them in advance to give myself breathing space to tackle other projects whilst they were progressively released. And this worked well – I released each book at six monthly intervals but had to work on edits and finalising covers and copy before the release of each individual one. And, I did write other novels during that period.
The offshoot however, is that it feels like these stories have existed forever and a lot of bright, shiny new projects have come along and wanted to take centre-stage. On more than one occasion, I thought about releasing other books in between. Obviously, I controlled myself and didn’t!
It was also a sub-genre switch. This series was only ever designed to be a bit of fun and pure, escapist fiction, which I think we all need right now more than ever, and that feeling started for me, during lockdown. Ironically, I think we might need a break from reality now for different reasons.
In between finalising those books, I was working on manuscripts that were/are more on brand.
In retrospect, to keep things exciting and fresh, I probably won’t write so far in advance in any future series. I have a few manuscripts under my belt as a result of this approach, which is great. But, I’m planning a future series and I intend to write and release each as opposed to waiting until the series is complete.
But, for now, would you like to be transported to the most gorgeous of European towns and live a life far removed from your own?
Perhaps, a small trip to the Spanish coastal town of Tossa de Mar and into the life of dazzling jewellery?
Or maybe, a more inland journey to the home of perfume, Grasse, in France?
What about an indulgent trip to Hallstatt, Austria for a sweet chocolate experience?
Or if they aren’t your thing, a trip to Tuscany for their deep and rich red wine will definitely do the trick!
Take a trip. All books are available now.

Happy travels
